Then we come out, make the roof safe and sheet it up to stop more water getting in, and put a temporary patch on if that is what it needs. The permanent repair happens in daylight, when we can do it properly.

Most calls we get in Burnley are about a roof that has started letting water in. A lot of local housing is Victorian and Edwardian terraces with natural slate, and after a century of Pennine weather the nails give out and slates start to slip. Warm, damp lofts cause condensation that rots timber from the inside. We fit attic venting installation, carry out attic venting repairs, and add loft ventilation so air moves through the roof space and the structure stays dry.
The tall brick stacks on Burnley's terraces take a beating from the weather, and the mortar is often the first thing to go. Water then tracks down into the bedrooms below. We cover the lot: chimney repairs, chimney repointing where the mortar joints have weathered away, and chimney flashing repairs to replace the lead where the stack meets the roof — one of the most common causes of a chimney-breast leak.

There is a deposit on agreement, then a staged payment when the materials are delivered and the scaffold is up — that covers the materials and scaffolding we pay for in advance, so it is money you can see sat outside your house. The balance is invoiced on completion with 7 days to pay. Every stage is set out in your quote before you agree to anything.
